Message from President

It is my great honor to welcome you to the Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition of Nepal (SPENN).

Clinical nutrition is an essential yet often under-recognized pillar of modern medicine. From critically ill patients in intensive care units to individuals living with chronic and autoimmune diseases, appropriate nutritional support plays a decisive role in improving outcomes, enhancing recovery, and optimizing quality of life.

At SPENN, our mission is to promote evidence-based practices in parenteral and enteral nutrition across Nepal. We aim to bring together healthcare professionals from diverse disciplines—including physicians, nurses, dietitians, and researchers—to foster collaboration, education, and innovation in the field of clinical nutrition.

Through continuous medical education programs, workshops, research initiatives, and guideline development, we strive to strengthen the standards of nutrition care in our healthcare system. Our vision is to build a future where nutrition is not seen as supportive care alone, but as a fundamental component of treatment.

I invite you to join us in this journey toward advancing clinical nutrition and improving patient care in Nepal.

Warm regards,
Dr. Binit Vaidya

Message from General Secretary

In Nepal today, the most under-utilized ‘drug’ in our hospitals isn’t a new pharmaceutical—it is targeted, clinical nutrition. When we ignore a patient’s nutritional status, we aren’t just delaying recovery; we are increasing the risk of infection and hospital stay. Globally, the value of nutrition healthcare is increasingly recognized as a “clinical medicine” rather than just dietary support. Whereas nutrition remains a “vastly unexplored domain” despite the rapid growth of services in Nepal. Let us move together for creating mindset of ‘treat the disease’ to a ‘nourish the patient’ reality. l body without fuel cannot fight, and a healthcare system without nutrition cannot succeed. SPENN organization promises the Foundation laying that will build the future of clinical nutrition in Nepal.

Warm regards,
Dr. Pawana Kayastha

Message from IAPEN India President

On behalf of the India Association for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (IAPEN INDIA), I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the entire medical fraternity and nutrition practitioners of Nepal on the successful registration of the Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition of Nepal (SPENN). This is a remarkable milestone that reflects your commitment to advancing clinical nutrition and improving patient care across the region.

We are delighted to share that IAPEN INDIA looks forward to strengthening this relationship through a formal Memorandum of Understanding with SPENN. This collaboration will serve as a valuable platform for mutual exchange of knowledge, advancement of nutrition practices, and joint research initiatives that will benefit both our nations.

Given the shared cultural heritage, similar dietary patterns, and common healthcare challenges between India and Nepal, this partnership holds immense potential for impactful education, capacity building, and evidence-based practice in clinical nutrition.

I extend my best wishes to all the office bearers, physicians, and nutritionists involved in this initiative. May SPENN grow into a strong, influential body driving excellence in parenteral and enteral nutrition.

Wishing you continued success and looking forward to a fruitful and enduring collaboration.

Warm regards,
President
